Primary School Holiday Programs

All children will enjoy becoming part of a tribe for the day.  They learn about stories from our ancestors and about artefacts that have been used for thousands of years.  They also have the opportunity to become an ancient warrior or princess with 'Ochre' face and body painting.

Goombuckar Indigenous Cultural Bus Program

  • includes two groups of 25 children participating in 90-minute classes/lessons
    • one cultural lesson inside the bus for 45 minutes learning about our culture in a fun and interactive way;
    • one art lesson outside the bus for 45 minutes making a carded 'Boomerang' (these really do fly!)
  • minimum of 50 children participating (broken into two groups of 25)
  • one facilitator
  • total duration of workshop is 3 hours
  • total cost = $12.50 per child (including GST) with a minimum overall cost of $625.00

Lessons include:

  • storytelling of one of the following:
    • Goombuckar & Bubberlacom
    • Maroochy story
    • Glasshouse 
  • artefacts, maps, place names, “special” places
  • ochre face/body painting
  • make a carded 'Boomerang'
  • didgeridoo playing or learn a traditional song

Please note:
Additional charges apply for travel outside of the Sunshine Coast. 
Didgeridoo playing can only be performed by a male facilitator.

After School Care Workshops

  • includes up to two rotations of 45-minute classes/lessons
  • maximum of 28 children per class
  • one facilitator
  • total duration of workshop is 1 hour 45 minutes
  • total cost = $330.00 (including GST)

Lessons include:

  • storytelling of one of the following:
    • Goombuckar & Bubberlacom
    • Maroochy story
    • Glasshouse 
  • ochre face/body painting
  • artefacts, maps, place names, “special” places
  • make a carded “Boomerang”

Didgeridoo playing can only be performed by a male facilitator.
